Spike's voice

Spike's soul

The threat may seem unbalanced.

Not only is Spike’s quiver sparse, his implements of mayhem are less than impressive. Truly, in this fellowship of crusaders, Spike is the Dwarf.

Aged, hirsute, battle weary and curmudgeonly, he sneers at the glitter and glory of modern warfare. His axe, ancient and crude, is dulled by the hacking of strikes missing their mark.

Dr. Neau and his arsenal incontrovertibly embody the finesse, lethal prowess, exacting acrimony, and crushing power of the Wizard, the Elf, the Man, and all four of the cute boisterous Hobbits who prance around our arduous endeavors.

In fact, Dr. Neau's talent on the frets, innate musical gifts, and breath-hitching good looks constantly threaten to demoralize Spike.

But Spike and his axe, the quarter century old Eterna – his first and only guitar - which can be bought for $45 on craigslist, are joined with two more devastating weapons:

Spike’s voice, and Spike’s soul.

Spike’s voice is the most destructive force ever unleashed upon Matt’s prose.

And when Spike confessed his pre-raid doubts to his son, lamenting, “I can barely play, and can’t sing at all, what delusion inspires me to this certain defeat?" Spike’s son replied; “Yeah dad, but you’ve got soul.”

That earned the kid an extra $20 toward the young fool’s campus adventures.

And so, with Spike’s axe, voice, and fabled soul...

And Dr. Neau’s bevy of finery, ardent skill, and wicked flair...

Our fellowship strives to conquer the impossible, to master the master’s creation, to boldly go where no band has gone before…

We are...
